Our students have the potential to meet with academic success but have been largely unsuccessful due to such challenges as dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, low processing speed, central auditory processing disorder and, poor organizational, and executive functioning skills.
Our reading programs are Orton-Gillingham-based, and we believe in a multi-modality approach to teaching in every discipline and at every grade level.
Most of our students move on to mainstream public, independent, boarding, and parochial schools.
Winston is fully accredited through the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the NAIS.
The Winston School of Short Hills is seeking a dynamic, creative, and motivated long-term substitute to teach Middle School Science and Executive Functioning.
This is a long-term leave position that will extend from January 2024 through June 2024.
Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in teaching science in grades 6-8 Special education experience Ability to differentiate instruction within a small group Student-centered and compassionate.
Flexible team player Requirements Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.
g.
, biology, chemistry, physics).
Teaching certification or licensure in science education.
Ability to effectively manage classroom dynamics and behavior management techniques.
Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, parents, and students.
Duties:
- Deliver instruction to students in various scientific subjects, such as earth science and chemistry.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and student engagement.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
